Real Wild Adventures Happen in Africa

Austrian Feminist Power in Wild Adventures Territory

Well I make no bones about it – I am from Austria just like Arnold Schwarzenegger. I wonder what he thinks about all the wild stuff that’s going down here.

The thing is I also am South African. I have dual nationality due to the fact that I lived there for over 30 years. I didn’t apply for citizenship or anything – it was just given to me – in the apartheid days.

The decision to raise my twin daughters in Austria did not fall lightly. I was a happy chappy in South Africa but then again I have the happy stuff inside of me. The thing I missed the most when I decided to actually settle down and live here was the sun shine. Let me tell you living here is not the same as jolling here – South African lingo for going out and having a good time.

What with people locking up young girls in cellars and hacking their familys to death – yesterdays highlight. The thing is I don’t read news papers. And on TV I only watch animal and travel documentarys. But bad news has a way of getting you more than good news.

It’s kind of shaming that people lock up kids in cellars so they can use them as they please. Sick. Sick for me and sick for you but obviously okay for the perpertraitor or why else would he do it? Sure he may have felt guilty kind of like when you know you shouldn’t have that extra piece of cake but you do it anyway because it feels so good whilst you’re doing it. I bet that sick stuff happens all over the world it just hasn’t come to the surface. Just like all the good stuff doesn’t come to the surface.

Some times I think about all the good books that have been written but never published, good music composed but never heard – you get the drift.

As a kid I would feel ashamed for being a jew killer. Yet others thought I came from a good stock because my people would know how to handle all those dark skinned people. That kind of talk scared me.

I’m writing this from Austria. This kind of thing does not happen all the time like the Chinese papers have been saying – or maybe they do? It just hasn’t come to the surface yet. What I find so interesting is that every body is pointing fingers – yes it is sick that men lock young girls in cellars and it’s no excuse.

But what about the chinese who devalue women? Is it okay that so many baby girls are left and forgotten in adoption homes? Is it okay that women get circumcised? Is it okay that religion forces women to take a lesser role in the world.

Look at me – I’m a feminist! No I didn’t burn my bra because I like to show all my feminine assets. And on top of that I adore men. My interpretation of being a feminist means oozing that feminine stuff. I wish more women would realise what power they have. I have never really had any issues with men. I feel perfectly comfortable in their presence and I have enough worldly experience and intuition to realise that a man is being a creep. There is no way any man is going to abduct my daughters or abuse me. Because I know there’ll be other men there to rescue me before I can count to 10. That’s feminism for you!

Issabel Allendes is not Austrian or African but she’s a great woman, feminist and fantastic story teller. This video is worth watching.

I’d love to read your opinion on what feminism means to you.
