Real Wild Adventures Happen in Africa

The Disgusting Seal Hunt in Canada

May 27th, 2008 | By Claudia | Category: Claudia's Wild Adventures

Look I’ll just say it as it is - I hate hunting. I know I’ve heard all the ranting about how hunting contributes to the protection of the environment and so forth - yes even in Africa. And in good old Austria you have the traditional forester galavanting about with his gun.

Firtsly I do not believe for one moment that animals ruin the environment. HELLO people ruin the environment by sheer greed. There is enough for everyone - it even says so in the Bible - for those religious hunters, hunting to protect the environment.

I’ve listened to every argument. Some come with a rational argument and others - let me just say all I detect is the thirst for blood. An animal or any living thing is not worth less than a person. We were meant to all be here oe we wouldn’t be here in the first place.

The universe or at least the planet is a perfect design - nature takes care of excess. It has been prooven when lean years hit forests/plains etc then the animals produce less offspring. Nature is perfect. The survival instinct is perfect.

And I know hunting is a popular sport because people contact me to ask if i could organise hunting trips. Well sorry don’t come knocking on my door.

I understand indeginous people hunting to survive - killing a buck to eat or as in the seal case if a Inuit kills a seal in Alska that’s perfectly okay. But this sick massacre of clubbing seals to death has no reason.

Don’t even try the fish argument with me because it’s a fact that people come with huge trawlers and fishing nets that stretch across many kilometeres to catch fish which lands up as fish fingers in the supermarket. If anything then people are eating too much fish - not seals!

I find it interesting that in Europe they want to ban seal products because animal activists are causing people to wake up. And please don’t give that whole yadda yadda about animal activists. Animal activists are as important as the anti slave crowd were. Or are people saying thats different? No the way we treat people and animals is a reflection of our society.

Besides fewer people even want seal stuff. Who wants to walk around with a seal fur on their boots or on their head looking like a yeti? Hey you got to understand I’m a diva myself I love to dress and wear sparkly stuff. But i decided swarovski shines more than a real diamond causes less pain and well those fabulous fake furs even come in my favorite colors like orange - funky and trendy. Who wants to be a remnant of the past? Not me.

I’m not for one minute suggesting the world becomes vegetarian even though I am and strangely enough I’m a lot healthier, thinner and more energetic than my meat eating comprades but okay I understand. But then please ensure you’re eating meat from a humane organic farmer. Surely nobody wants to eat the flesh of an animal that endured pain and suffering?

But I’m digressing and ranting because actually I wanted to say the seal hunt in Canada is an old traditional practice that has no place in a 1st world country - or maybe I missed something?
